For the Hands That Guide Us

Image
Just two months in, and we've come so far, With teachers beside us, they've been our North Star. In a year that’s short, but feels so alive, It's their steady hands that help us survive. They’re more than the lessons, more than the grades, They’ve been our calm when the excitement fades. In every challenge, big or small, They lift us higher, they catch us when we fall. In these two months, we've shared laughs and tears, Through highs and lows, they’ve eased our fears. With just over 145 days to go, They’ll keep lighting our path, helping us grow. They’ve shown us strength in times of doubt, That even in chaos, we’ll figure it out. Their late nights, their care, their hearts open wide, Are the reasons we thrive with them by our side. So here’s to our teachers, in just these two months, You’ve given us courage, you’ve given us trust. Though this year may be short, the memories stay, In your hands, we’ve found our way. We’ll cherish this time, every lesson and laugh, With

Creating a Safer and More Resilient Philippines

The Philippines faces many challenges due to its high risk of natural disasters, which is largely because of its location and environmental conditions. Being on the Pacific Ring of Fire, the country often experiences earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. It is also in the path of frequent and intense tropical storms. Rapid urbanization has made cities, especially in coastal areas, crowded and more vulnerable to damage during disasters. Climate change, which brings rising sea levels and more extreme weather, makes it even harder to manage and prepare for these events. The Philippine government and various organizations have taken several important steps to address these issues. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) works to organize disaster preparedness and response efforts. Local government units (LGUs) create their disaster plans and have teams ready to respond to emergencies. Community programs, like Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Comm

A Personal Message To The President

Dear President Bong Bong Marcos, I hope you’re doing well. My name is Roman Querubin III, and I am a student at Ilocos Sur National High School. I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts with you about our country and our future. I know being the president weighs a lot on responsibility and I know you’re working hard for it. But anyway, at a time like this, I can’t help but have this ongoing feeling that the price of education and other basic needs seem to be getting higher, and it’s tough for many of us to keep up. I also worry about the environment and the kind of world we inherit. This makes it seem as if our voices are not being heard, and the needs of the common man-more so the unprivileged are not always put first. It is frustrating and engulfs one with thoughts of what type of future lies ahead of us. Yet, despite all these concerns, there is hope. I believe in my country and that, with the right choices, a better day awaits all of us. I hope that you will listen to our

That's So Me

For as far as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a doctor. A healer to many, a beacon of hope for those seeking relief. I always had some aspiration to put on that white coat and make all the difference in the world. This is a dream that has never been just a flash of childhood fantasy but a constant source of direction for my daily goals and aspirations. I am Roman Querubin III, a 14-year-old STE student from Ilocos Sur National High School. It carries my family legacy because of my grandfather and father, who motivated me to fight for the name while forging my path. I wish for myself to be dedicated, compassionate, and endlessly curious, always ready to take up challenges and hungry for more learning. Recently, a moment presented itself that strengthened my conviction for this dream. While playing sports with friends one day, one of them slipped and injured his arm. I could see the pain reflected on his face as he tried to move. Without any thought, I rushed ove
